Allen Edwards Sr.

Allen Edwards Sr., 95, of Washington, died Thursday, October 6, 2016, in his home with his family by his side.

He was born March 31, 1921, in Gainesville, AL, a son of Monroe and Lue Georgia Edwards.

Mr. Edwards had worked at the former American Brake Shoe, Houston.

He enjoyed fishing and trips to the casino.

On December 23, 1939, he married Bettie Fowler, who died March 28, 2001.

Surviving are: two daughters, Stella and Shelly Edwards both of Washington; two sons, Charles and John Edwards both of Houston; 28 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Deceased are: a son, Allen “Nick” Edwards Jr.; two daughters, Sadie Watkins and Mildred Williams; five brothers; and a sister.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Monday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2016.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
