Amelia Virginia Davis, 88, of Houston, went to be with her lord Tuesday, July 26, 2016, in her home with her family by her side.
She was born August 8, 1927, in Canonsburg, a daughter of Ezekiel Sr. and Rosie Thomas Jackson.
Mrs. Davis was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Canonsburg where she had served as church clerk, a missionary, and a faithful member on the usher board.
She enjoyed reading, gatherings with friends and family, and loved and cherished her children.
On January 29, 1954, she married Richard Davis, who died January 16, 2000.
Surviving are five children, Richard Davis (Karen) of Philadelphia, Robert Davis of Avella, and Terri Davis, Janice Davis and Sandra Davis all of Houston; five grandchildren, Matthew (Elizabeth), Jonathan, Sean, Nathan and Amanda Davis; four great grandchildren; a special goddaughter, Rozanne; four sisters, Mary Thomas of Washington D.C., Margaret Oliver of Houston, Betty Wysong (Paul) and Flora Sherron, both of Pittsburgh; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a daughter, Jamie Lorraine Davis, and three brothers, Thomas, James and Ezekiel Jr. Jackson.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Friday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342. Additional Visitation will be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2016, in Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 120 Greenside Ave. Canonsburg, where services will start at 11 a.m. with Rev. Anita Lovell officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg.
