Betty J. Hall Wright, 88, of Canonsburg, formerly of Chartiers Township, was called home for a joyous family card game, July 14, 2017.
She was born November 15, 1928, in Washington, a daughter of Archie W. and Florence McKarahan Hall.
Mrs. Wright was a 1947 graduate of Chartiers High School.
She had worked for the Mt. Lebanon Drive-In in McMurray, Washington K-Mart, and retired as a unit secretary from the Washington Hospital in 1988.
Mrs. Wright was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Houston.
She enjoyed her Penguins, Pirates and Steelers, and knew more about sports than most men. She also enjoyed high school wrestling, playing cards, board games, puzzles, reading, shopping and sneaking off to the Casino with certain ladies in her life.
Mrs. Wright loved her family and put the “Grand” in Grandma and the “Great” in Great-Grandma.
On August 10, 1947, she married Clifton E. “Pete” Wright, who died August 10, 2000.
Surviving are: two sons, James Wright (Joan) of Pittsburgh and David Wright (Jacqueline) of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Rebecca Hamler (Herman) of Canonsburg; ten grandchildren, David Wright (Michele), Kristen Ober (Greg), Bethany Fisher (Shannon), Aimee Lucot (Chad), Laura Wieczorek (Dale), Jonathan Wright, Courtney Stocker (Daniel), Kristina Hamler, Kylie Hamler and Vince Hamler; 13 great-grandchildren, Cash, Kingston and London Wieczorek, Geno and Myah Ober, Levi and Lucille Stocker, Evelyn, Brittney, Shane and Karlee Fisher, Gianna Wright and Andie Lucot.
Deceased are: three brothers, Gilbert “Jack”, Alfred “Piney” and Archie “Bill” Hall; and five sisters, Nancy White, Florence “Honey” Ermacoff, Elizabeth “Tim” Hampson, Katherine “Kate” Reed and Virginia “Bunch” Arthur.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 Sunday and 1 to 4 and 6 to 8, the time of service, Monday, July 17, 2017, in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, with Pastor Hannah Loughman officiating. Interment is private.
