Dominick “Chub” Beton, 86, of Houston, died Friday, February 17, 2017 in his home with his family by his side.
He was born June 1, 1930 in Houston, a son of Sam and Rose Testa Beton.
Mr. Beton was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was a retired iron worker, where he was a member of Iron Workers Local #3 in Pittsburgh.
Mr. Beton was a member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Meadow Lands and the Canonsburg Sportsmen’s Association.
He loved spending time with family especially his grandchildren and following them in their activities and sporting events.
Mr. Beton was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting, gardening and he was instrumental in starting the Chartiers-Houston Midget Wrestling program in the 1960’s.
On September 6, 1958, he married Dolores Duball who passed away January 29, 2005.
Surviving are three children, Curt Beton (Karen) of Washington, Lisa Starcevic (Greg) of Canonsburg and Cara Ford (Tom) of Houston; seven grandchildren, Samuel Beton, Courtney Bedillion (Brinton), Andrew, Luke and Anna Starcevic and Jessica and Zachary Ford; a great grandson, Colt Bedillion; a brother, William Beton of Houston; a sister Vickie Porter (John) of Eighty Four; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three sisters, Florence Santoni, Patricia Strohecker and Nancy Stenger.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Monday in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2017 in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Meadow Lands, with Rev. Carmen A. D’Amico as celebrant. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Full military rites will be accorded by the Honor Guard of VFW Post #191 in Canonsburg.
