Donald D. Lesso

Donald D. Lesso, 80, of Canonsburg, died Saturday, September 3, 2016 in his home with his family at his side.

He was born September 20, 1935 in Canonsburg, a son of John A. and Anastasia Ratych Lesso.

Mr. Lesso was a 1953 graduate of Chartiers High School.

He was a member of the Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Lesso was a master engine builder. In 1970 he opened Special Machine Operations in Houston and with his son ran the shop until retiring in 2015.

Don was passionate about caring for his family, home and reading World War II stories. He was a risk taker in both life and business.  A gambler at heart, he greatly enjoyed playing poker. 

On May 2, 1970, he married Judith Kay Sims who survives.

Also surviving are his son and best friend Randall Lesso and his wife Barbara of Canonsburg; two grandchildren, Timothy and Deanna Lesso; and a brother, Robert Lesso and his wife Patricia of Westminster, CO.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Tuesday in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342.  Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2016 in the Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, 112 W. Pike St., Canonsburg, PA 15317 with Rev. Don Coleman officiating.  Interment will be private.  The family suggests memorial contributions to: Viaquest Hospice, 610 Park Ave., Monongahela, PA 15063; or the Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church.
