Edward F. Tomasik, 96, of Washington formerly Glenfield, died Thursday, June 30, 2016, in Presbyterian Senior Care, Washington.
He was born October 27, 1919, in Tarentum, a son of Andrew and Susanna Gers Tomasik.
Mr. Tomasik had worked as a punch operator and blue print reader for American Bridge in Ambridge.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Glenfield for many years.
Mr. Tomasik was a veteran having served in the Pacific with the Army during World War II. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal with 3 Bronze Stars and the American Theater Service Medal.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 402 in Coraopolis.
Mr. Tomasik enjoyed dancing and gardening.
On July 2, 1946, he married Betty Jane Johnson who survives.
Also surviving are: a son, Thomas Tomasik (Margie) of McMurray; a daughter, Mary Alice Susko (Dave) of Washington; three grandchildren, Wendy Scarsellone, Scott Tomasik and Rachel Susko (Alex Wells); four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are: four brothers, Andrew, Joseph, John and Frank Tomasik; and four sisters, Mary Golgan, Annie DenDoven, Pauline Rutledge and Stephie Matus.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m., the time of service, Saturday, July 2, 2016 in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston PA 15342. Interment will be private in the Highwood Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
