Frank S. Betonte, 86, of Houston, died, Monday, June 27, 2016 in the Donnell House, Washington.
He was born March 11, 1930 in Meadow Lands, the son of Patsy and Rose Engott Betonte.
Mr. Betonte was a 1948 graduate of Chartiers High School and attended Duquesne University for two years on a football scholarship.
He worked for Jessop Steel in Washington for 29 years, retiring in 1992.
Mr. Betonte served from 1952 to 1956 in the US Navy as a “Sea Bee”.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Meadow Lands.
His memberships included the Alpine Club in Washington and American Legion Post #639 in Claysville.
On May 24, 1957 he married Donna Arcure who passed away September 12, 2000.
Surviving are his daughter, Melissa Betonte Youngfleisch and her husband Paul of Long Island, NY; a sister, Marie Tamburo and her husband Dan of Troy, MI; an aunt, Stella Engott of Houston; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Thursday, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Friday, July 1, 2016 in Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church, Meadow Lands. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Donnell House, c/o Hospice Care of the Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Ave., Washington, PA 15301.
