Gary T. Powell, 70, of Houston, died Saturday, September 2, 2017 in the Washington County Health Center, with his family by his side.
He was born June 27, 1947 in Canonsburg, a son of Joseph and Suzanna Little Powell.
Mr. Powell was a 1966 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School and graduated from California University of Pennsylvania in 1971.
He worked 15 years for 3M Pharmaceuticals until his health forced him into retirement.
Gary was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Muse, where he had served as Eucharistic Minister and CCD coordinator. He was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Powell enjoyed golf.
On October 17, 1970, he married Nancy Snarey who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Brandon Powell of Houston; a daughter, Laura Oliverio and her husband George of Houston; five grandchildren, Connor Oliverio, Brayden Oliverio, Landen Oliverio, Abigale Powell and Audrey Powell; three brothers, Ronald Powell of Washington, Anthony “Tom” Powell (Cyndi) of Hickory and David Powell (Norma) of Claysville; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to his parents are four brothers, William, Donald, Joseph and James Powell; and three sisters, Dorothy Balduzzi, Dolores Sifinski and Mary Ann Jones.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Monday in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 5, 2017 in Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Muse, PA 15350, with Rev. George T. DeVille as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Departing prayers will be said in the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday.
