Harvey G. Davis

Harvey G. Davis, 88, of Pittsburgh, formerly Houston, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016 in the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born January 7, 1928 in Strabane, a son of Harvey and Mary White Davis.

Mr. Davis was a 1945 graduate of Trinity High School.  He attended the University of Pittsburgh for a year and a half prior to serving with the Navy in the Pacific at the end of World War II.  Following his time in the service Mr. Davis graduated from Penn Commercial.

He was a member of St. Patrick Parish in Canonsburg where he had served as an usher for many years.

Mr. Davis worked for 27 years for the Pennsylvania Transformer and McGraw-Edison in Canonsburg and retired in 1990 from NVF (National Vulcanized Fiber) of Willow Grove, PA

He played baseball for the Philadelphia Athletics organization in North Carolina and later for the Pennsylvania Transformer team.

Mr. Davis enjoyed spending time with his family and playing bridge.

On January 20, 1950, he married Barbara Terputac who survives.

Also surviving are three children, Brian Davis (Bonnie) of McMurray, Keith Davis (Chris) of Havre de Grace, MD and Renee Shreves of White Lake, MI; six grandchildren, Nicole Driver, Grant Davis (Resa), Caitlyn Shreves, Hunter Shreves, Connor Davis and Tyler Davis; a great granddaughter, Avin Driver; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two brothers, Robert and William Davis; and a sister, Ruth Davis.

A Memorial Blessing service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 27, 2016 in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342.  Interment will be private in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.
