John L. "Jack" Roach

John L. “Jack” Roach, 80, of Canonsburg, died Tuesday, June 20, 2017, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, with his family by his side.

He was born September 7, 1936, in Canonsburg, a son of John and Margaret Wylie Roach.

Mr. Roach was a 1954 graduate of Chartiers High School.

He had worked 30 years at Thorofare Markets in Canonsburg as a produce manager, five years for Ball Glass in Washington, and retired in 1999 from Washington Steel as a Machine Operator.

Mr. Roach was a 60 year member of the First United Methodist Church of Houston and had served as Trustee of the church.

He was also a Life Member of the National Rifle Association, the Mt. Lebanon – Dormont Sportsman Club and the Chartiers class of 1954 Breakfast Club.

Mr. Roach enjoyed hunting and shooting, was an avid high school sports and Pittsburgh Steeler fan.

Jack’s family was most important to him and he enjoyed the time he spent at all of their activities.

On July 7, 1956, he married Joan Alison Simpson, who survives.

Also surviving are: a daughter, Lauren J. Petras (Michael) of Canonsburg; two sons, J. Craig Roach (Christine) of Canonsburg and Steven J. Roach (Lori) of Prosperity; eight grandchildren, Alison Ogurchak (Jonathan), Rebecca Pierpont (Gary), J. Parker Roach, Hunter Roach, Jaclyn Roach (Colby Grubich), Steven Roach, Haylee Kraushaar, and Chelsee Donelan (Chris); six great grandchildren, Wylie and Levi Ogurchak, Kaelyn and Brayden Pierpont; and Kenlee and Berklee Donelan; a sister, Donna Park (Thomas) of Houston; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., the time of service, Friday, June 23, 2017, in McIlvaine-Speakman, Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, with Rev. Hannah Loughman officiating.  Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church, 213 East Pike Street, Houston, PA 15342.
