Marguerite V. (McCartney) Engel

Marguerite V. Engel, 77, of Canonsburg, died Tuesday, September 13, 2016 in her home with her family by her side.

She was born March 2, 1939 in Washington, the daughter of Ollie McCartney II and Mildred Patterson Moore.

Mrs. Engel had worked as an Avon Lady, a waitress at the former BonHom Richard in the Washington Mall and as a department manager at the former GeeBee’s in Washington.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canonsburg, where she had served as a Sunday School teacher.

Mrs. Engel enjoyed her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

On August 30, 1954 she married Harvey A. Engel, her husband of 62 years.

Also surviving are three children, Dan Engel and Allen Engel both of Canonsburg and Cathy Lucas and her husband Thomas of Washington; three grandchildren, John McClain (Paige), David McClain (Kristen) and Jeffrey Lucas; two great grandchildren, Vanessa and Cameron McClain; three sisters, Mary, Clara Lou and Lisa; a brother Ollie III; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a daughter, Carol Ann McClain and a son, Robert Engel who died in infancy.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Thursday in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 16, 2016 with Pastor Bill Barnett officiating.  Interment will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory.
