Melissa E. (Spiker) Andrews

Melissa E. Andrews, 68, of Houston died Friday, May 13, 2016 in her home following a lengthy illness.

She was born August 21, 1947 in Houston, a daughter of Jacob and Sarah Dunn Spiker.

Mrs. Andrews had worked as a custodian for the Chartiers-Houston School District.

She was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Washington, loved playing bingo, the casino, and gardening.

On November 25, 1964, she married Leo E. “Dink” Andrews Jr. who along with their son Edward L. Andrews, a niece Carla Spiker and three others, died in a boating accident June 13, 1981.

Surviving are a son, Eugene Jacob Andrews of Bentleyville; a granddaughter, Ashlie Andrews and a great grandson Gavin Andrews both of Houston; a sister, Wilda Browell (James “Skip”) of Washington; two brothers, Eugene Spiker and David “Jake” Spiker (Cathy) both of Houston; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to her husband and son, is a brother, Carl Spiker.

Friends will be received from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 the time of service, Monday, May 16, 2016 in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342.  Interment will be private in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg.
