Michael R. Hordies

Michael R. Hordies, 82, of McMurray, died Sunday, August 28, 2016 in McMurray Hills Manor.

He was born March 4, 1934 in Canonsburg, a son of Mitchell and Anna M. Tomor Hordies.

Mr. Hordies was a 1952 graduate of Canonsburg High School and a long time employee of the former Pennsylvania Transformer in Canonsburg.

He was a member of Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Hordies served with the US Army as a paratrooper from 1954 to 1962.

He was a member of the White Eagles, Canonsburg and American Legion Post #902, Houston.

Mr. Hordies enjoyed bowling, playing cards and was an avid Steeler fan.

On January 5, 1957, he married Jeanne Bodmer who survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four children, Michael Hordies (Tracy) of South Lake, TX, Lynda Natale (Ronald) of Dallas, TX, Victor Hordies of Pasadena, CA and Dana Hordies of Dallas, TX; two grandchildren, Steven and Kara Natale; two step grandchildren, Kristen Mins and Ryan Heurrmann (Whitney); and four great grandchildren.

A brother Victor Hordies is deceased.  

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 2, 2016, with Rev. Don Coleman officiating.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.  The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, 112 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, PA 15317.
