Olga Iris (Rivera) Rivera

Olga Iris Rivera, 54, of Houston, formerly the Bronx, NY, died Friday, September 22, 2017 in the Canonsburg Hospital.

She was born July 23, 1963 in the Bronx, NY, a daughter of Jorge Luis and Olga Sanabria Rivera.

Olga had worked as a New York City police officer with the Emergency Service Unit. She became a teacher and from 1992 until 2001, she taught in the New York City Schools until her health forced her retirement.

She had received her Bachelor’s Degree from the City University of New York.

She enjoyed collecting pens and handbags.

Surviving are her husband and companion of 24 years, Felix Jesus Cruz of Houston; two son, Mark Cruz and Felix Cruz and his fiancée Christina Griffin both of Houston; a brother Pete Rivera and a sister, Maria Rivera both of the Bronx, NY; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Tuesday and Wednesday in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342.  Additional visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. in the R.G. Ortiz Funeral Home, Inc. 2121 West Chester Ave., Bronx, NY 10462, where service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2017.
