Olive (Smith) Ferrell

Olive Smith Ferrell, 92, of Deltona, FL formerly Hickory, passed away peacefully, Friday, October 20, 2017 in her home.

She was born November 11, 1924 in Mt. Pleasant Twp., Washington County, a daughter of Vance M and Jane Morgan Smith.

Mrs. Ferrell was a homemaker and member of the Hickory United Evangelical Presbyterian Church. 

She was a 1942 graduate of Hickory High School.

On October 4, 1947, she married John “Tony” Ferrell who died September 15, 2010.

Surviving are two sons, James R. Ferrell (Linda) of Endicott, NY and Jack L. Ferrell (Joan) of Deltona, FL; two brothers, Robert M. Smith (Peggy) and Richard L. Smith of Hickory; two sisters, Dorothy J. Walker of Hickory and Roberta “Bertie” Farrar (Larry) of Columbia, TN; seven grandchildren, Nancy Ferrell Messemer (John) of Endwell, NY, Daniel Ferrell (Tiffany) and Mark Ferrell both of Endicott, NY, Jaclyn Ferrell Jordan (Joe) of New York, NY, Gina Hillegas Kubica (Mark) of Deltona, FL, Melissa Loffredo of Palenville, NY and Jennifer Chewins of Ocean Springs, MS; six great grandchildren, Lucas Messemer and Colin, Landon and Olivia Ferrell all of Endicott, NY, Lily Chewins of Ocean Springs, MS and Emily Russo of Palenville, NY; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are three brothers, J. Arthur, Vance, Jr. and Paul Smith; and a sister Elsie Smith.

At Olive’s request, services and interment will be private.  A memorial reception will be held at the Smith Farm in Hickory, Saturday October 28, 2017 from 1 - 4 PM.  Please contact the funeral home for details.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K.
