Richard Shawn Diesel

Richard Shawn Diesel, 38, of Big Sky, Montana died unexpectedly, Thursday, November 30, 2017 of an apparent heart attack at the home of his parents, Richard and Marci Richard Diesel of Washington.

He was born September 23, 1979 in Washington and has lived in Big Sky, MT for the last 13 years.

Shawn was a 1998 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School and attended Penn State University.

Mr. Diesel was a self employed fly fishing guide in the Big Sky area and was a proud member and certified guide of Orvis Fly Fishing Outfitters.

He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and Penguin fan.  His personal highlight was being present when Mario scored five different ways in one game.   His Montana friends were well aware of his Pittsburgh connection with his jerseys, shirts and various Pittsburgh fan gear.

Surviving in addition to his parents are three sisters, Devon Tonti (Zach) and Kelsey Cleveland (Patrick) both of Houston and Jordan Corso (Rick) of Canonsburg; two nieces, Claire Elizabeth Cleveland and Haylee Anne Tonti; two nephews, Bodey Diesel Cleveland and Theo Brooks Tonti his Godson; his paternal grandmother, Joann Diesel of Washington; his maternal grandmother, Anne Richard of Canonsburg; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and many close friends in Montana.

Deceased are his maternal grandfather, Theodore Richard; and his paternal grandfather Richard L Diesel, Sr.

Friends of the family will be received in the home of his parents on Whitetail Dr., Washington, PA 15301, from Noon to 5:00 pm both Saturday and Sunday.  A memorial service will be held at a later date in Big Sky, Montana.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Trout Unlimited, Montana Chapter, P.O. Box 7186, Missoula, MT 59807, montanatu.org or Toys for Tots at any of their collection locations.
