Robert L. Peffer Jr.

Robert L. Peffer Jr., 76, of Houston, died Friday, December 30, 2016, in Canonsburg Hospital.

He was born February 1, 1940, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late Robert Sr. and Violet Truswell Peffer.

Mr. Peffer attended Alexander Grade School and East Washington High School.

He had worked for 43 years at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.

Mr. Peffer was a member of St. Patrick Parish, the Washington National Guard where he served as a cook, and the SNPJ of Strabane

He enjoyed camping at Mountain Pines, fishing on the Youghiogheny River with his father and brother, winning many trophies at car shows and drag racing in his ’57 Corvette.

Mr. Peffer loved his pets, especially Chloe Buttons.

On November 14, 1964, he married Rosemary Poness, who survives.

Also surviving are: a brother, William Peffer (Susan) of N. Strabane; two sisters, Kathleen Otten of Pittsburgh and Linda Sasek (Drew) of Canonsburg; a brother-in-law, Samuel Poness (Del) of Strabane; a sister-in-law, Patricia Poness of Strabane; and several special nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a brother, Terry Peffer, who died in infancy, and a niece Kellie Sasek.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Friday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where a blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017.  Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
