William Likar Obituary

William A. Likar, 75 of Houston died Monday, April 16, 2018 in his home with his family by his side.

He was born June 8, 1942, in Avella, a son of Paul and Mary Dolinar Likar.

Mr. Likar was a 1960 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School.  He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Business Administration and received his Masters in Hospital Administration from Xavier University.

He spent his career in the health care industry.  From 1980 to 84 he was Executive Director of Ohio Valley General Hospital in McKees Rocks; was president of Titusville Hospital from 1985-1987; then became administrator for Villa Convalescent in Troy, Ohio from 1987-91; administrator of Independence Court of Oakland in Pittsburgh from 1991-97 and retired as administrator of Overlook Green in Whitehall where he worked from 1997 to 2006.

He enjoyed running, working on cars, wine making, gardening, loved literature, was an avid golfer and a huge Notre Dame football fan.

Surviving are three children, David A. Likar of Houston, Karen Manookin and her husband Michael of Shoreline, WA and Allison Likar of West Hollywood, CA; three grandchildren, Maggie, Kerri and Alli Manookin; two brothers, Edmund Likar (Gloria) and Ron Likar (Jean) both of Houston; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2018 with Rev. Carmen D’Amico as celebrant.  Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.  The family asks that everyone meet at the church.   Arrangements are in the care of McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
