Dolores Loughry Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the loss of a loving, caring, talented, life-long resident of Hickory, Pennsylvania.  Elizabeth Dolores ‘Do’ Carlisle Loughry, 94, passed away peacefully in her residence on Sunday morning, April 7, 2024.

Do was the second of the three children that comprised the family of the late Clifford Clark Carlisle and Wilhelmina Jane Stewart Carlisle.  She was born as their valentine in Washington Hospital on February 14, 1930, a day when the world became a little brighter.

She was a 1947 graduate of the Mt Pleasant Township Vocational High School (Hickory High School) and a member of the Mt Prospect Presbyterian Church.  She was employed as the bookkeeper for Corwin Chrysler-Plymouth-Jeep for three decades.

She married Robert John Loughry on December 20, 1950, and had a successful marriage for over 61 years until his death in April 2012.  Their union created a family of three children, Cynthia Haddad of Hickory, Bryan Keith Loughry (Judy) of Hickory and Claudia Moss (Clif) of Weirton, WV; five grandchildren, Michael Haddad, Kristen Loughry Fillhart (Jason), Erin Loughry Henley (Patrick), Justin Michael Deichler and Courtney Moss; four great grandchildren, Allura Carrington Haddad, Hayden William Fillhart, Michael Robert Deichler and Myah Reign Deichler.

Do was predeceased by both of her siblings, Margaret ‘Alene’ Carlisle McBride and James Walter Carlisle.  Their families were all loved dearly by Do, and she will not only be fondly remembered by all of them but will be sorely missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

At her request, there will be no visitation or formal memorial service.    We request only that you take the time to remember and celebrate in your own way the beautiful soul that was Dolores ‘Do’ Loughry.

With her husband Robert, she will be interred at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Cecil Township, as Robert served as Technical Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
