Cyrus Merle Myers

Cyrus Merle Myers, 84, of Meadow Lands, died Friday, September 29, 2017 in the Washington Hospital.

He was born July 2, 1933 in Mt. Pleasant, a son of Ernest D. and Ethel M. Cunningham Myers.

Mr. Myers had worked at Haws Refractory in Canonsburg, Sudsy Sam’s Beer Distributor in Washington, and retired from Cameron Coca-Cola in Washington.

He was a veteran having served with the US Army for six years from 1955 until 1961.

Mr. Myers attended the Meadows Track Chapel.

He loved his family, especially grandchildren, great grandchildren and his dog Marley.

Mr. Myers enjoyed gardening, camping, celebrating Christmas and always looked forward to spending time at the Washington Senior Citizens.

On December 24, 1955, he married Marianne Rast who survives.

Also surviving are five children, Marianne Myers of Washington, David Myers (Lori) of Logan, OH, Nancy McCracken (Rodney) of Washington, Joseph Myers (Chris) and Charles Myers (Renae) both of Houston; seven grandchildren, Amanda Burgess (Patrick), Tyler (Brittany), Seth, Brandon, Christian, Lucas and Matthew Myers; four great grandchildren, Heath and Mia Burgess, Korbin Dallas and Killian Myers; a brother, Wayne Myers (Billie) of Canonsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two brothers, J.C. and Harry Myers.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Tuesday in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 4, 2017 with Pastor Joseph DiDonato officiating.  Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil.  Full military rites will be accorded by the VFW Post 191 Honor Guard.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Meadows Track Chapel, 210 Racetrack Rd., Washington, PA 15301 (Checks may be made out to CHHA - The Meadows).
