James R. Brown

Rev. James R. Brown, 79, of Muse, went to be with the Lord, Friday, June 16, 2017 with his family by his side.

He was born December 18, 1937 in Muse, the son of James E. and Florine Anna Thrasher Brown.

In his younger years, he was a Golden Gloves Boxing champion and an avid weight lifter.  He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and working on cars.

Rev. Brown had worked at Universal Cyclops in Bridgeville, RCA in Canonsburg and Meadow Lands, was a driver for Waste Management and drove school bus for Laidlaw Transit in Bethel Park.

He served two years with the US Army.

Rev. Brown’s ministry was with the Refuge Church of God in Christ, Canonsburg.

On September 28, 1957, he married Bessie Terrell who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Eugene S. Sanders (Angela) of Fredericktown; four grandchildren, Mark Hall, Laurie Hall, Eugene Hall (Steffanie Zullo-Hall) and Bessie Lockhart; seven great grandchildren, Faith and Gabrielle Hall, Santino, Rocco and Nico Zullo-Hall, Rosa Lockhart and Elijah Socie; two brothers, Daryl and Darwin Brown both of Pittsburgh; eight sisters, Janet Brown, Brenda Drewery (Kenneth), Judith Brown, Linda Roach (Terry), Gail Rushin and Sharon Brown all of Pittsburgh, Sandra Washington (Robert) of McDonald and Norma Norwood of Norfolk, VA; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a son Keith Brown; three brothers, Rodney, Ronald and Donald Brown; and four sisters, Betty, Cindy and Deborah Brown and Eleanor Anthony.

Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Monday in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 20, 2017 with Bishop James M. Foster officiating.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
