Jean L. Mazza, 90, of Washington, formerly Houston, died Thursday, January 25, 2018 in Southminster Place of Presbyterian Senior Care, Washington.
She was born April 29, 1927 in Independence Township, Washington County, a daughter of Robert and Alice Brownlee McCalmont.
Mrs. Mazza was a member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Meadow Lands and the Christian Mothers and Guild of the church.
With her husband, she was a long-time member of the Washington Country Club where she was active in the Ladies Golf Association. She also belonged to the Symphony South Women’s Sorority.
On November 22, 1949, she married Dr. Victor Mazza who passed away, August 13, 2017.
Surviving are two sons, Robert J. Mazza (Lauren) of Washington and Richard M. Mazza (Sharon) of Carlisle; four grandchildren, Victoria Mazza-Scott (Dylan), Nicolas Mazza, Olivia Rose Mazza and Grace Anne Mazza; a sister, Lela Keenan of Panama City, FL and her former daughter in law, Melody “Suzy” Mazza.
Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are three sisters, Mary Helen Farrar, Edith Miller and Anna Carl; and a brother Robert McCalmont.
Private grave side services will be held in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Bright Focus Foundation (www.brightfocus.org) to support on going research in the areas of Alzheimer’s Disease, Macular Degeneration and Glaucoma. Cure in Mind. Cure in Sight.
