John L. Koletar Jr., 87, of Houston, died Monday, December 10, 2018 in the Washington Hospital.
He was born March 23, 1931 in Duquesne, a son of John L. and Mary Csokuly Koletar.
Mr. Koletar was a graduate of Duquesne High School. In 1952 he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Degree in Civil Engineering and received his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh in 1960.
John spent most of his career as the plant engineer for Mesta Machine in Homestead.
He attended the Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church.
John was known for both his tenacity and infectious laugh. He loved sports, doing word puzzles and following the stock market on his iPad.
His family always came first: he will be sorely missed.
In 1956, he married Leona Christ who died January 14, 1984. In 1998, he married Nancy Koller who survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Dr. Susan L. Koletar of Columbus, OH, Kimberly Dorsey (Craig) of Orange, CA, Amy Latham (Brian) of Springfield, OH and Cindy Masters (Chuck) of Bethel Park; three grandsons, Cameron, Ryan and Zachary Latham; a sister, Marie Grega of Burke, VA; and many nieces and nephews.
A sister Gerry Micklo is deceased.
Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11:00 a.m., the time of service Saturday, December 15, 2018 in the Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, 112 W. Pike St., Canonsburg, PA 15317 with Rev. Don Coleman officiating. Interment is private.
