Margaret Ann Oliver, 89, of Houston, died Friday, December 21, 2018 int the Washington Hospital.
She was born February 9, 1929 in Washington, a daughter of Ezekiel and Rosie Thomas Jackson.
Mrs. Oliver was a graduate of Canonsburg High School
She had worked as a housekeeper for several area families and for a short time worked for RCA in Meadow Lands.
Margaret was a woman of strong faith. She was a lifelong member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church where she had served faithfully in many capacities and was a long-time member of the Celestial Choir.
Mrs. Oliver was a member of the Sweet Lorraines Club and enjoyed singing, going to church and doing cross word puzzles.
Her greatest joy was the time she spent with family and grandchildren. She was instrumental in organizing many family reunions over the years.
On March 21, 1953, she married Eugene Oliver who passed away September 16, 2008.
Surviving are two sons, David L. Oliver (Nancy) of Washington and Jeffrey E. Oliver (Lisa) of Canonsburg; nine grandchildren, Leslee Ann Gwynn (Elroy), Anthony Oliver (Mary) and Beth, Anitra, Erica, Lydia, Rozlynn, Chelsea and Jazzy Oliver; many great grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Thomas of Washington D.C., Betty Wysong (Paul) and Flora Sherron; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a daughter, Beth Ann Oliver; three brothers, Thomas, James and Ezekiel Jackson Jr.; and a sister, Amelia Davis.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342. Additional visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018 in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Canonsburg, where services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
