Marlin D. Funka, 89, of Waynesburg, formerly Houston, passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2018.
He was born July 24, 1929 in Houston, the son of Raymond and Anna Mamrack Funka.
Mr. Funka was a 1947 graduate of Chartiers Township High School.
He attended California University of PA and Penn State University.
Marlin was employed for 38 years as a systems management engineer for IBM, retiring in 1991.
On July 3, 1950, he married Evelyn Nelo, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Thomas Funka (Janet) of Encampment, WY, Susan Petery (Robert) of Waynesburg and Michael Funka (Elizabeth) of West Alexander; seven grandchildren, Dea Wilczek, Dayle Helicke, Jesse Rose Petery, Barrett Funka, Emily Petery, Claire Funka and Michael W. Funka; and a great granddaughter, Auburn Flinchum.
A brother Raymond Funka is deceased.
Marlin enjoyed activities with his family, watching class westerns and Wheel of Fortune. He was a jokester and conversationalist, bringing smiles to family, friends and strangers. Whether in a log truck or airplane, he was a great co-pilot.
Following his retirement, he and Evelyn enjoyed many winters in Florida.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation or service. Burial will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342.
