Werner Meili, 91, of Houston, died Monday, October 8, 2018, in Townview Health and Rehabilitation Center, Canonsburg.
He was born on June 18, 1927, in Weisslingen, Switzerland, a son of Heiri and Babaty Klauser Meili.
Mr. Meili attended school in Switzerland and received a degree in Electrical Engineering.
He had worked for Federal Pacific Electric in Santa Clara, Ca. and Cooper Power Systems, formerly McGraw Edison in Canonsburg as the Supervisor of Development Laboratory Power Switchgear Department, retiring in 1992.
Mr. Meili was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Houston.
He was an avid tennis player and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in their sporting events.
On June 23, 1953, he married Johanna Hauser, who survives.
Also surviving are: two sons, David Meili (Karen) of Houston and Gary Meili of Mechanicsburg; four grandchildren, Mark Meili (Lindsey), Michael Meili (Emily), Megan Noe (Shayne) and Lauren Meili; five great grandchildren, Ava, Emma and Olivia Meili and Sophia and Lucas Noe; and a brother, Willi Meili of Switzerland.
Three brothers and three sisters are deceased.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Friday in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday with Rev. Clarejean Haury officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Amedisys Hospice of Pennsylvania, 480 Johnson Road, Suite 230, Washington, PA 15301 or Townview Health and Rehabilitation Center, 300 Barr St., Canonsburg, PA 15317.
