Anita Iris Antel, 85, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully, Friday, March 15, 2024, in the Washington Hospital.
She was born February 7, 1939, in Dover, OH, a daughter of the late George and Carrie Taylor Hyland.
Anita was a 1957 graduate of Mannington High School in Mannington, WV.
Mrs. Antel was a member of the Abundant Life Baptist Church in Washington.
She was an artist and enjoyed painting. When the 911 system was first implemented, she painted street signs for Cecil Township. Flower gardening was also a hobby.
On December 18, 1959, she married Jerry W. Antel, her husband of 64 years, who survives.
Also surviving are four children, Craig Antel (Lisa) of Washington, Debra Mooney (the late Don) of Finleyville, David Antel (Kim) of Palm Coast, FL and Marc Antel of Canonsburg; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her parents are two brothers, Henry and George Hyland; and a sister, Elizabeth Hyland.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 21, 2024, with Rev. Robb Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
