Billie J (Zollars) Robinson

Billie J. Robinson, 91, of Hickory passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at the Washington Hospital.

She was born on January 2, 1931, in Washington, the daughter of Charles and Johnetta Zollars.  Following her mother’s passing in 1933, she went to live with and was raised by her grandparents, Frank and Alice Bowers.

Billie graduated from Washington High School. 

In 1991, she retired from Bellmead Apartments, on the Presbyterian Senior Care campus, where she was the first manager of the facility.

Billie was a member of the Washington Chapter #409 of the Order of the Eastern Star and the last remaining charter member of the Mount Pleasant Township Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

On October 23, 1947, she married Lee A Robinson at the Mt Prospect Presbyterian Church  (Hickory EUP). They were married for seventy-three years before his passing on September 6, 2020.

Billie spent her entire adult life on the family farm in Hickory and was blessed with two children, Jeanine Miles (Ken) and the late Terry Robinson; three granddaughters, Shannon Miles (Louie Vigliotti), Abby Miles and the late Kylee Jo Miles; and one great granddaughter, Alexa Miles.

Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. the time of service, Saturday, September 3, 2022, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342.   Interment will be private in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Mt. Pleasant Twp. Volunteer Fire Department, 106 Main Street, Hickory, PA  15340
