Charles W. Bowen, 81, of McDonald, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021, in the St. Clair Hospital.
He was born March 8, 1939 in Houston, a son of Jesse and Elizabeth Smith Bowen.
Chuck was a member of the Church of the Covenant, Washington.
He was an iron worker and member of Iron Workers Local #3 in Pittsburgh and he owned Chuck’s Shoe Repair in McDonald.
Mr. Bowen was a member of Chartiers Lodge #297 F & AM in Canonsburg and the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Gold Wing Road Riders. Along with his wife, they visited every state in the continental US on a motorcycle.
He had served with the US Army from March of 1958 until March of 1960.
On August 24, 1963, he married Lorrene A. Shephard who died January 29, 2018.
Surviving are three children, Charlene Dorsey (Willy) of Wheeling, WV, Dru Bowen (Marci) of McDonald and Jescinda Yonish (Mark) of Claysville; seven grandchildren, Wesley Lauff (Janice), Zachary Jeffries, Austin Bowen, Fallyn Yonish, Nikki Yonish, Brianna Bowen and Christopher Dorsey (Jess); four great grandchildren, Luca Lauff, Connor Dorsey, Ryan Dorsey and Bodhi Lauff; two sisters, Zona White of Washington and Donna Lowry of Avella; and several nieces and nephews.
Due to present circumstances there will be no services at this time. Burial in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies will be at a date to be determined.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Church of the Covenant, 267 E. Beau St., Washington, PA 15301.
