Charles J. Cushey Jr. also known as “Choppy or Chubs”, 79, of Houston, died Sunday, January 24, 2021, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born January 3, 1942, in Canonsburg, a son of Charles J. and Leona Meredith Cushey.
Mr. Cushey was a 1960 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School.
He was a coal miner working at Westland Mine and retired from Dilworth Mine, Rices Landing, in 1992, followed by 19 years at John Sisson Motors and most recently at Budd Bauer, both of Washington.
Mr. Cushey loved working on his 1955 Chevy.
On June 27, 1975, he married Eileen Dawson, who survives.
Also surviving are: two sons, Chad A. Cushey (Cindy) and Thomas P. Lukich (Lori) both of Houston; three grandchildren, Brandy Clayton (Brandon), Chad Cushey Jr., and Vincent McGovern (Courtney McCool); three great grandchildren, Michael, Neavaeh and Amara; two sisters, Judy Stiffler (Harry) of Washington and Brenda Wood (the late Ronnie) of Clinton, MS; a brother, Kevin S. Cushey (Kathy) of Houston; close friends, Chester and Linda Bober of Canonsburg; many nieces and nephews; and a favorite grand dog, Delta.
A daughter, Shona Cushey, and a granddaughter, Karli Cushey, are deceased.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Thursday, January 28, 2021, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342. Due to present circumstances, masks must be worn and social distancing guidelines should be followed.
