Dominic (Nick) Profio Jr.

Dominic Profio Jr., 82, of Collier Township, formerly Houston, passed away peacefully, Monday, February 13, 2023, in St. Clair Memorial Hospital with his wife at his side.

He was born December 18, 1940, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Dominic and Edith Bennett Profio.

Nick was a 1958 graduate of Cecil High School, graduated from Penn State University in 1962 and received his CPA certification in 1970.

He served with the US Army Reserve Unit 630th Transportation Company. They were activated to the war in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969.  Nick returned as a Staff Sergeant completing his 6 year commitment.

Mr. Profio started his career as a Special Agent for the IRS.  He then joined the accounting firm of J.K. Lasser in Pittsburgh.  In 1995, Dominic joined the law firm of Pietragallo, Gordon Alfano, Bosick and Raspanti, LLP in Pittsburgh, retiring in 2009.

He was a member of the Beverly Heights Presbyterian Church in Mt. Lebanon where he served on the finance committee, was leader of the Men’s Monthly Luncheon Group and sang in the adult choir.

Nick was a member of the Italian American Historical and Cultural Society of Washington County.

He was a Corvette enthusiast and former member of Three Rivers Corvette Club.

On October 17, 1964, he married Janice Loffert who survives.

His most distinguished title was “Pa Pu” to Jacob, Joshua, Jillian and Jase, children of Sherri and Mark Houpt of North Strabane Twp.

Also surviving are two brothers, David Profio of San Jose, CA and Charles Profio of McDonald; and several nieces and nephews. 

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 pm Thursday, February 23, 2023, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 North Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342.   Interment will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, February 24, 2023, in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp., with full military honors provided by the Honor Guard from VFW Post 191 in Canonsburg.   A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 25, 2023, in the Beverly Heights Presbyterian Church, 1207 Washington Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15228. The church will be live streaming the service at beverlyheights.org/live/. 

The family suggests memorial donations be made to Corolla Wild Horse Fund, Inc., 1130 E. Corolla Village Rd., Corolla NC 27927 (corollawildhorses.com) of which they were charter members.
