Edward J. Furmanek, 78, of Meadow Lands, died, Wednesday, June 8, 2022, in the Washington Hospital.
He was born March 5, 1944, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Stanley and Irene Gavalier Furmanek.
Ed was a 1962 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School. Following his graduation, he joined the US Air Force and served during the Viet Nam War. He then entered the Army reserves following his Air Force service.
For 33 years Mr. Furmanek worked for Drakenfeld Colors in Washington, most recently Ferro Color Solutions.
He was a member of the Bears Club in Meadow Lands, American Legion Post #902 in Houston and VFW Post #191 in Canonsburg. Ed enjoyed golf, woodworking, watching Pittsburgh Steelers games and being with his grandchildren.
Surviving are three children, Kristi Bonus and Lori Herriott (Bill) both of Washington and James Furmanek (Wanda) of Georgia; four grandchildren, Mason Furmanek, Melia Bonus and Sara and Lexi Herriott.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Wednesday, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342, where a Blessing Service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, June 16, 2022. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp. Full military rites will be accorded by the Honor Guard from VFW Post #191, Canonsburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the VFW Post #191, 539 W. Pike St., Canonsburg, PA 15317.
