John H. Pavlik III, 72, of Houston, died Monday, December 19, 2022, in the Washington Hospital.
He was born October 17, 1950, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late John and Ruth Schweiger Pavlik.
Mr. Pavlik was a 1968 graduate of Avonworth High School.
He was Navy veteran serving from February 1969 until May of 1970, with a tour in Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Service Medal.
John had worked for over 30 years at Laface and McGovern LLC in Bethel Park.
Mr. Pavlik was a member of Abundant Life Baptist Church in Washington, the Washington Country Club and volunteered for Faith in Action of Washington for many years.
He enjoyed golfing, cigars, eating out, reading, and his golf trips to Myrtle Beach.
On August 7, 1971, he married Diane F. Gaertner, his wife of 51 years, who survives.
Also surviving are: two daughters, Julie Young (John) of Houston and Sarah Rittle (Chad) of Canonsburg; a granddaughter, Addyson Rittle; two brothers, James Pavlik of Pittsburgh and David Pavlik (Ursula) of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; two sisters, Rosemary Conroy (Patrick) of Seven Fields and Laura Taschner (Jeff) of Pittsburgh; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Leo and cat, Little Boy.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Thursday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 12:30 PM on Friday, December 23, 2022. Interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp., with military rites being accorded by the VFW Post 191 in Canonsburg.
