Linda L. (Sam) Unicek

Linda L. Unicek, 71, of Brooksville, FL, formerly Meadow Lands, died unexpectedly, Friday, October 29, 2021, in her home.

She was born June 14, 1950, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Joseph and Marie Johnson Sam.

Linda was a graduate of Ramona High School in Riverside, CA.

She worked for several area grocery stores including the former Lombardi’s Market and Giant Eagle in both Washington and McMurray.  Linda also waitressed at the Dog House in Washington and the former Cabaret on Route 19 where she met her husband, Rudy.

On June 21, 1974, she married Rudolph “Rudy” Unicek.  Linda loved to socialize and they, enjoyed riding motorcycle, fishing, swimming, spending time at the pool and meeting people

She was a former member of the Chartiers Township Volunteer Fire Department Woman’s Auxiliary and SNPJ in Strabane. Presently she belonged to the American Legion Post #186 in Florida and was a former member of American Legion Post #902 in Houston.

Linda was an avid lover of all kinds of animals.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Lisa Unicek (Kurt Bryan) of Munhall; a son Brian J. Unicek (Courtney) of Meadow Lands; two grandchildren, Ava and Austin Unicek; a brother, Tony Sam of Chicago; an aunt, Estella Craft (Darryl) of Riverside, CA and several nieces and nephews.

A brother Victor Sam is deceased.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Monday, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2021.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Pennsylvania Great Dane Rescue and Rehab at www.pagdrr.org.
