Marlene L. Furman, 86, of Houston, passed away peacefully, Saturday, September 10, 2022, in the Washington Hospital.
She was born October 10, 1935, in Uniontown, a daughter of Edwin and Margaret Maust Hagerty.
Marlene graduated from North Union High School.
Mrs. Furman had worked as a bakery finisher at the Food Gallery and Giant Eagle and owned and operated the former Mindy’s Restaurant in Houston.
She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Houston.
Marlene enjoyed ceramics, embroidery, crossword puzzles and word search puzzles.
On July 1, 1967, she married George Furman who died October 7, 2021.
Surviving are three children, Dwight Carr of Uniontown and Tammy Myers (the late Ernest) and Melinda Williams (William) both of Houston; seven grandchildren, Miranda Smith (Chris), Caroline Metzler (Robert), Candace Drennon (Nate), Heather Camden, Jason Myers (Marie) and Tyler and Noah Williams; nine great grandchildren, Jade and Lillian Smith, Lane, Luke and Lily Camden, Makayla and Kamrynn Myers and Brody and Hayden Lynch; two sisters, Colleen Rankin of Uniontown and Linda Smalley (Russ) of Columbus, OH; a brother Larry Hagerty (Bev) of Pittsburgh and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her parents and son in law are a grandson, Brayden Williams; and a brother and sister.
Friends will be received from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., the time of service, Friday, September 16, 2022 in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342. Interment will be private at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
