Stephen Hathorne, 62, of Hickory, died Friday, October 13, 2023, in Washington Hospital.
He was born November 12, 1960, in Canton, Oh., a son of the late August Vesco and Patricia Hathorne.
Stephen attended Strayer University to pursue his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in IT but his health kept him from finishing.
He had worked for Carnegie Melon University, Pro Tech in Pittsburgh where he taught advanced technical classes, then started his own company, Technophile Press, where he created IT courseware.
Stephen was a member of the Hickory United EP Church and enjoyed being a part of the Holy Smokers.
He enjoyed watching movies, going on adventures, playing D&D, was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Ohio State Buckeye fan, and was active in apologetics.
On July 4, 2018, he married Ellen Warren, who survives.
Also, surviving are: a daughter, Victoria Hathorne of Hickory; a sister, Vina Vesco of North Carolina; mother-in-law, Barbara Warren of Hickory; and father-in-law, Robert Warren of Virginia.
His previous wife and mother of his daughter, Karen Hess Hathorne, is deceased,
Friends will be received from 11 AM to 1 PM, the time of service, on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, in Hickory United EP Church, 210 Main St., Hickory, PA 15340. Interment is private.
Arrangements have been entrusted to McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342.
