Susan Gump Dami, 68, of Avella, formerly of Houston, died Friday, March 2, 2018 in South Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center, Canonsburg.
She was born February 14, 1950 in Washington, a daughter of Charles and Mabel Hartley Spencer.
Mrs. Dami was a 1968 graduate of Trinity High School and graduated from California University of Pennsylvania in 1972.
She was a retired elementary school teacher in the Chartiers-Houston School District where she had taught for 33 years.
Susan was a member of the Faith U.P. Church where she had served as a Deacon.
She was a former member of the Chartiers-Houston Library Board, served as a Chartiers Township Supervisor from 2000 to 2005, served on the board for the State Police Camp Cadet Program, was a member of the Chartiers-Houston Federation of Teachers and the American Federation of Teachers.
Susan and her first husband were active in almost anything related to Chartiers-Houston.
On December 17, 1977, she married Keith A. Gump who died suddenly on October 7, 1994. On October 9, 2012, she married Rudy Dami who survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two brothers, David Spencer (Sylvia) of Washington and James Spencer (Vanna) of Bluffton, SC; three stepchildren, Dana Squires (Mike), Greg Dami and Brad Dami (Kathy); six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; five nephews, Andrew Spencer, Jonathan Spencer (Jennifer), Justin Anderson (Carelle), Corey Spencer (Lauren) and Alex Spencer; a niece, Vanessa Blake (Jeff); and a sister-in-law and best friend, Melissa Dami.
Deceased are two brothers, Rev. Charles R. Spencer and Clyde Spencer who died at birth; and a nephew, Vaughn Spencer.
Friends will be received from Noon to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday March 5, 2018. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
