Sylvia A. Powell, 89, a long-time resident of the Fineview area of Pittsburgh, presently of McDonald, passed away peacefully, Monday, March 28, 2022, in the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
She was born April 14, 1932, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Joseph and Margaret Russell Williams.
Sylvia was a 1950 graduate of the Irwin Avenue Girls Vocational High School, Pittsburgh.
Mrs. Powell was a member of the St. Peter’s Worship Site of Christ Our Savior Parish and worked many years at the Kroger Supermarket on the North Side, Pittsburgh.
She enjoyed playing bingo and sewing and making her own clothes.
On July 21, 1951, she married Harry M. Powell who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Harry M. Powell Jr of McDonald; two grandchildren, Julie Chandler (Eric) of Canonsburg and Jason Powell (Nikki) of Washington; two great granddaughters, Jasmine Lopez (Saviel) and Kiera Witson; three brothers, David Williams and Thomas Williams (Darlene) both of Indiana; and George Williams (Marilyn) of Las Vegas, NV; a sister, Margaret Boxley (Joe) of Las Vegas, NV; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a daughter-in-law, Linda Powell; five brothers and a sister.
At the request of the family, all services will be private.
