James S. Fal

James S. Fal, 72, of Washington, died, Wednesday, September 7, 2016, in his home with his family by his side.

He was born June 27, 1944 in California, PA, a son of Stanley and Lelah Stewart Fal.

Mr. Fal was a 1962 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School.

Following his high school graduation, Jim enlisted in the Navy.  He was stationed at Great Lakes, IL where he was studying Nuclear Power.   While there, he went through a series of interviews and tests and was accepted into the Naval Academy Prep School and in 1964, into the Naval Academy, graduating in 1968.  He continued his education through the Navy and received his Masters Degree in Aeronautical Systems from the University of West Florida in 1970.  Mr. Fal became a Naval Aviator in 1970 and attained the rank of Lieutenant in 1971.

In 1975, he received his Masters Degree in Business Administration from Drexel University.

Following his military service, Mr. Fal worked in marketing, sales, purchasing and management in the ferrous and non-ferrous industries for General Refractories Co., Foseco Inc. and Tonolli Corp.  Presently he was a self-employed real estate broker, property manager and owner of Houston Mini Storage and managing partner Allison Plan Apartments.

He was a member of the Chartiers Hill United Presbyterian Church, Canonsburg and the American Legion Post #902, Houston.

On June 8, 1968, he married Mary Lou Kepenach who survives.

Also surviving are three children, Sharon Collis (Samuel) of Westerville, OH, Alicia Toth (Paul) of Lake in the Hills, IL and J. Stanley Fal II (Stacy) of South Park; five grandsons, Sebastian Collis, Nathaniel Fal, Spencer Collis, Declan Toth and Riley Toth; a brother John Fal (Liz) of Monument, CO; a sister, Carol Baker (Barry) of Washington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends 2 – 5 p.m. Saturday, September 10, 2016 in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342, at which time a Memorial Service celebrating James life will begin. Interment will be private at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Gary Sinise Foundation, P.O.
