James R Blackwell

James R. Blackwell, 84, of Canonsburg, formerly of Olean, NY, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017 in Providence Point with his family by his side.

He was born May 22, 1932 in Olean, NY, a son of Marie Clark Blackwell Morey.

Mr. Blackwell was a graduate of Olean High School and St. Bonaventure University.

He had worked in the accounting department for McGraw Edison and Cooper Power Systems.

Mr. Blackwell was an avid sports fan, specifically the Pittsburgh Pirates, Penguins and the Steelers where he had been a season ticket holder since 1972.

Surviving are three children, Michael Blackwell (Sherry) of Rochester, NY, Lynne Fehl (Harry “Chip”) of Canonsburg and Kevin Blackwell (Brenda) of Olean, NY; seven grandchildren, Russell Blackwell (Staci), Jim Blackwell (Allison), Matthew Blackwell, Timothy Fehl (Becca Childers), Sarah Fehl, Stefany Perry-Blackwell (Krista) and Sommer Blackwell; and two great grandchildren, Hayden and Jocelyn Blackwell.

A son, James “Jay” Blackwell is deceased.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342.  Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 11, 2017 in the Cecil Alliance Church, 3291 Rissing Rd., McDonald, PA 15057, with Rev. Brian Greenleaf officiating.   Interment will follow in Millers Run Cemetery.
